Yaffle: Hi everyone!
rayzones: hello :>
Yaffle: It's been a while since lowpolis has been active on the Internet. We've never really been very active online as lowpolis before, but since Elon Musk has started his Twitter acquisition in 2022 we have been posting less and less. Around the same time, cohost opened for sign ups and we tried to make it a new home for lowpolis — until it got shut down in late 2024. After that, we switched to Bluesky and Mastodon, but at that point we were very tired from constant social media migration: we lost what following we had from Twitter, and there wasn't really anything to post about, as me and rayzones were busy with life stuff.
Then in early 2025 more and more folks who had previously been on cohost started making their personal websites and personal blogs, until the following statement formed in that small bubble of tech hobbyists and artists: 2025 is The Year of Blogs.
- The Year Of The Blog by v buckenham
- The year of the blog? + how to easily put a Bluesky feed widget on your website by Robert Yang
- You Should Start a Blog by The Works of Egan
- Personal Blogs Are Great! by mpklamerus
- 5 years of being correct and perfect by Oma Keeling
Looking at this small online movement, we decided that it was really not a healthy idea to keep restarting our social media presence over and over again on whichever new social media startup comes after the previous one burns down. We wanted a place online that we could use as our permanent personal archive and experimental zone with full creative control. An actual website that people could visit to catch up on all the lowpolis stuff if they wanted to.
The Year of Blogs is almost over, but we have finally launched our reworked website and are finally here to say hi to you all :)
We are working on new games, we've got cool collaborations coming soon, and we'll be using this blog to post about our progress, to share custom tools that we create for game development, and to highlight cool art made by other folks.
rayzones: we already have some ideas for bonus content that could be published on the website, and maybe even exclusive small game projects that would only live here! there's all sorts of stuff we'd like to share, so hopefully you will also find it fun or interesting.
Yaffle: To keep up with our posting, add our RSS Feed to your RSS Reader! If you are new to the RSS stuff, check out this great blog post by Jey Pawlik describing in detail how to use it. You can also check out open-source RSS readers like RSS Guard or Vienna, or you can subscribe to our Mastodon and Bluesky accounts if you use those — we are still going to maintain them, and post links to our blog posts, as well as general marketing stuff.
rayzones: (OR you can just visit the site from time to time to check for updates, if you're like me and can't keep up with all the rss — and/or social media — feeds piling up. only ever visiting a webspace when you feel like it is always an option.)
Yaffle: The website is still a work in progress! We will be adding more interactive features to it over time (polls??), so stay tuned for these :)
